Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights & Contour Pro Palette | Review

Hello everyone!

I mentioned this contour palette in my most recent drugstore beauty haul but I hadn't really tried it out when I wrote the post. I have had a little bit of time to try out the palette and today I am going to be sharing my thoughts and opinions on this palette.

The packaging of this palette isn't the prettiest but it's sturdy and travel friendly. You get four shades in the palette, all of which have decent pigmentation and blend out really well on the skin as they have a very buttery texture. The shades are easy to work with so this palette would also be great for those just beginning in makeup.

I love the highlight shade on the left of the top row; one sweep with my fan brush on the cheekbones and you are gleaming like a disco ball! I love mixing the two centre shades together on the top right row and setting my under eye concealer with them. I have been looking for a good affordable banana powder for a long time now, and I am loving this one so far! My two favourite contour shades are the two bottom right shades, as I do prefer a contour which is on the cooler side.

Overall, I am loving this contour and highlight palette so far and I can't wait to use it more. This is a very affordable palette which is perfect for anyone; whether they're beginners in makeup or pros. I know that this will be staying in my makeup bag for a very long time.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried this palette, and let me know what you thought of it too!

Until next time,

Drugstore Haul | Makeup Revolution, Real Techniques & More

Hello everyone!

I recently went on a little shopping trip and picked up a few things from the drugstore. All of the products have been on my wish list for a little while now, and I am excited to try them out. I will be doing individual reviews on most of these products as I haven't tried anything that I bought apart from the two brushes.

Real Techniques Bold Metals 201 Pointed Crease Brush:
I love Real Techniques brushes in general and I am working to complete my collection as I do already have the majority of their brushes. I picked up the Bold Metals 201 Pointed Crease brush to make a start at finishing off my collection. As usual, the bristles are really soft and you can tell just how high quality the brushes are. I love the Bold Metals collection as the bristles are really luxurious and feel SO much more expensive than what they actually are.

B. Cosmetics Fan Brush:
I have been on the hunt for a good fan brush recently and I came across this one from B. Cosmetics. I already have a few of their brushes which I am a big fan of, and this one did not disappoint either. The bristles are very soft and flexible, meaning you can move the brush around with ease. I love using this brush for highlight.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights & Contour Pro Palette:
This is one of the products which I will be doing a full blog post reviewing, but I am still going to briefly talk about it in this post. I haven't tried this out yet but I have swatched the shades and they seem really pigmented and buttery. I love the look of the banana powder and the highlight!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama:
Again, I haven't tried this mascara out but I picked it up on offer in Boots. I believe that this mascara is fairly new to the UK and I really wanted to try it. I haven't heard that many reviews on this mascara so I don't really know what to expect, but I will share what I think of it once I have tried it out. I actually thought that this was a dual ended mascara just by looking at the packaging, but it turns out that it isn't.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation:
This is another product that I am very excited to try because I have heard some really good reviews on it. I have never tried any Maybelline foundations before but I have very high expectations for this as so many bloggers have raved about it. I have applied a little bit to the back of my hand and the formula feels really light and smooth. Again, I will write a blog post about this foundation and let you all know what I think.

I hope that you enjoyed this little drugstore haul. I will be doing separate blog posts on a lot of these products, so check back soon to see what I think of everything I bought!

Until next time,

The Ride Or Die Makeup Tag

Hello everyone!

Jaclyn Hill recently created a new makeup tag and I knew that I just had to join in on the fun and do it on my blog too! This is honestly the hardest thing that I have ever had to do as I could only choose one product from each category. If you decide to do this tag then make sure to leave a link in the comments as I would love to see your ride or die products:)

Primer: Benefit PoreFessional
This is probably the only product that was fairly easy to choose. The Benefit PoreFessional primer has been used and loved by me for about 2 years now. It has all of the things that I look for in any primer; mattifying and pore filling.

Foundation: Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr
Choosing just one foundation was very difficult as I love testing out new foundations. I always look for a full coverage foundation which is going to last all day, and the Rimmel Lasting Finish is definitely that! This foundation sits really well on my skin and offers the perfect full coverage look. Despite being full coverage, it still looks very natural. The foundation does claim to last 25 hours, which I can't really comment on because I have never worn my makeup for that long, but it does last a good 8 hours which I think is pretty good.

Concealer: Rimmel Wake Me Up
Writing this post has reminded me that I desperately need to repurchase this mascara, there is the tiniest amount of product left in the tube. This concealer has very mixed opinions but it is honestly the best in my eyes. It is a medium coverage concealer so it isn't too heavy on the skin, and therefore it's perfect for under the eyes. It gives a very radiant finish and that is why it works really well on my under eye area, as I have quite a dull eye area. The consistency of this concealer is really creamy and blends easy without creasing.

Pressed Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte
It is no surprise that the Rimmel Stay Matte powder is my all time favourite pressed powder. I have went through countless amounts of this powder, and I will continue to use it in my everyday makeup routine. It is very mattifying without looking cakey on the skin, and this is very important for me as I do have oily/combination skin. I have heard mixed reviews about this powder too, but I obviously love it or I wouldn't have featured it in this post:)

Under Eye Setting Powder: NYX HD Finishing Powder
I absolutely love this loose finishing powder from NYX. I love to set my under eye area with powder as it is extremely lightweight. This powder feels like satin on the skin as it is super soft. I have been a fan of this powder only for a few months, but it tops every other loose setting powder I have ever tried.

Highlight: Makeup Revolution Highlighter Lights Palette
When it comes to highlight I really like something with a lot of shimmer and sheen to it. I love when my highlight catches the sun and glows. This Makeup Revolution highlighter palette comes with three gorgeous highlight shades which all have lots of shimmer to them. For a palette that is under £8, the pigmentation is absolutely insane! I love all of the shades in this palette and I would definitely say that it is a staple in my collection.
Blush: Benefit Rockateur
The blush that I reach for the most often is Rockateur, so there is no doubt that it is my all time favourite blush. Rockateur is my perfect everyday blush which gives a pretty flush of rose gold to the cheeks. I am not that keen on the scent of this blush but that is completely overweighed by the pigmentation and longevity of the blush itself. This pairs really well with a pretty highlight as it already has a really nice sheen to it.

Contour: L'Oréal Infallible Sculpt Palette
For contour, there was no doubt in my mind which product I would be choosing. The only contour product that I have found no negatives about is the L'Oréal Infallible Sculpt. I'm not keen at all on the highlight shade but the contour shade is absolutely amazing. It is a cream to powder product which lasts a lot longer than a typical powder product does. I find that you do have to work quickly with the product as it sets quite fast, but it is really easy to blend out and the texture is very creamy and buttery. When it sets to a powder finish, it feels very powdery and soft to the touch.

Eye Shadow Base: MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
I always like to prime my eyes using a cream product before applying any eye shadow as I do have quite veiny eyelids. I do really like the Maybelline Colour Tattoos but I LOVE the MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study. It is really easy to work with as the texture is very creamy. I definitely want to get some more shades as the formula is everything!
Eye Shadow Palette: MAC Warm Neutrals Palette
I was really torn between a few different palettes when it came to writing this section of the post. However, the palette that I always go back to time and time again is the MAC Warm Neutrals. I only really do neutral eye looks as I find that they are the easiest to wear, so they palette is perfect for me. I love MAC eye shadows and this palette definitely does not disappoint. There is a huge range of shadows in this palette so there is definitely something for everyone. I can honestly say that I use every single shadow in this palette, and that is not often something that I say about palettes. Usually there are shades in a palette that I will never ever use but this is not the case with this palette:)

Eyeliner: Soap & Glory Supercat Felt Tip
I don't wear eye liner that often but when I do it will be the Soap & Glory Supercat Felt Tip. This eye liner is really easy to work with and glides really evenly on the skin. When doing winged eyeliner (or any sort of eyeliner for that matter!) this is definitely the easiest option to go with. At first thought you might think that this liner would dry out really quickly but I have had mine open for almost a year and it is still perfectly fine.

Mascara: Benefit They're Real
Mascara is something that I like to experiment with and try out new things. Out of all the mascaras I have ever tried, the Benefit They're Real is definitely my favourite. The wand is amazing as it allows you to coat every lash evenly. The formula is really great for adding lots of length and volume to the lashes, and the packaging is very simple but pretty. If I had to choose just one mascara then this would definitely be it!

Eye Brow Gel: NYX Tinted Brow Mascara
I don't really use a lot of product on my brows, a simple comb through with a tinted mascara or gel is good enough for me. The NYX Tinted Brow Mascara is my favourite that I have tried so far as it doesn't make my brows crispy and just adds a really nice subtle tint to them.

Lip Liner: MAC Pro Longwear in Etcetera
I only really wear nude lip products as I find that they are the easiest lips to go for, and they go with any eye look. Obviously, because I love nude lips I have a lot of nude lip products from pinky nudes to grey toned nudes and everything in between! That is why the next four categories were the hardest for me. My favourite nude lip liner is from MAC and it is the shade Etcetera. Etcetera is a beige shade which is really easy to pair with other nude lipsticks. The formula is really creamy and glides onto the lips easily.

Lipstick: MAC Satin Finish in Brave
Brave is a little different compared to my usual nude lipsticks as it is more on the pink beige side. I tend to go for a matte lip, so I sometimes like to set this with a translucent powder to make it matte as it is a satin finish lipstick. There were a lot of lipsticks that I could have chose for this section of the post, but Brave has everything that I look for in a lipstick.

Lip Gloss: Kylie Cosmetics Gloss in Literally
This gloss actually goes really well with the MAC lip liner that I mentioned before as they are both similar shades. Before I got this lip gloss I didn't really wear gloss too often. I do find that, because of the way the applicator is designed, too much product is dispensed at once. With the right amount of product, this gloss isn't too sticky on the lips and looks gorgeous. You can see a comparison of Dolce K and Literally below.

Liquid Lip: Kylie Cosmetics Dolce K
Obviously Dolce K would be featured in this post too. Dolce K is probably the lipstick that I reach for the most out of all of my lip products. It is on the darker side of the scale but it is still my favourite. I think that this shade really compliments my complexion well and goes with every single makeup look that I create.
Setting Spray: NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
I have only really tried 3 or 4 setting sprays before so this last section wasn't too difficult. I do really like the L'Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist but this NYX setting spray is my all time favourite. I prefer a matte finish to my makeup and this is really great for keeping my makeup matte all day as well as helping it actually stay on my face. This doesn't leave little white dots of product on my face like other setting sprays I've tried in the past have done, so that is also a bonus!

I hope that you enjoyed reading this post and if you decide to do this tag too then I would love to read it, so leave a link in the comments:)

Tropic Skincare Sculpting Palette & Angled Brush | Review*

Hello everyone!

I was recently sent a sculpting palette as well as an angled brush from the brand Tropic Skincare. Today I want to go a little more in depth about both products and share with you my thoughts about both items.

The packaging of the palette is very simple and sleek; matte black with a gold logo. Opening and closing the palette is a little bit stiff, but I think this is because it is quite new and hasn't been used that much yet. On the back of the palette there is some information about each shade in the palette and how to use it correctly. Inside the palette there is a very good sized mirror and then there is three sculpting shades. This little palette reminds me of the Sleek face form in light as the shades are very similar and so is the packaging.

The contour shade is a warm toned matte brown. I like that this isn't extremely pigmented but it does still have some decent pigmentation to it. This allows you to really build up your contour as it is better to start of with a little and gradually add more, rather than adding too much at once and not being able to remove it.

This blusher is a stunning shimmery coral shade and I was so excited to use it when I first saw it. The shade is really pretty and it has great pigmentation, but it is also has quite a chalky texture. I did still give this a go because I wanted to do a full review on the palette and it wasn't the worst blush I have ever used, but it also wasn't the best.

I really like this highlight as it isn't too 'in your face' but it does still have a really pretty sheen to it. I love how this highlight catches the light. This gives the perfect glow to the skin and is the perfect everyday highlight shade. The texture is really buttery and creamy, and it blends out really nicely on the skin.

I wanted to put both the palette and angled brush to the test so that I could really give you an honest and in depth review. I decided to apply all three shades in the palette to one side of my face using the angled brush, and then I applied all three shades on the opposite side of my face using my regular makeup brushes. I am going to be really honest here, the angled brush didn't really pick up as much product as my usual brushes do. The bristles, however, are really soft and flexible. I actually really like the sculpting palette so I will continue using it on a daily basis, but the brush wasn't that great in my opinion.

The palette is £24.00 and I honestly prefer the Sleek Face Form as it is less than half of the price and I do use all three shades in the Sleek palette whereas I am only going to use two of the shades from this palette. Don't get me wrong, it is a great little palette for travel as it has everything in it that you could need to finish off your makeup look. But, the blusher just didn't cut it for me. I do love the contour and highlight shades though, and I will be using them on an everyday basis! The brush is really soft and the bristles are really flexible but it didn't really pick up a lot of product which is a slight problem. I will continue testing out both items to see if I can learn to love the blush and brush, but those are my thoughts and opinions so far:)

Let me know in the comments if you have tried either of these products. What did you think?!

Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit

Hello everyone!

Today I wanted to do a post sharing my best drugstore recommendations for those starting out in makeup. All of my recommendations are from the drugstore so they are very affordable for those that have to stick to a certain budget or those who don't want to spend a lot of money on their makeup, but the products are still really good quality.

Primer: Rimmel Lasting Finish
Primer isn't really a necessity when you're first starting out in makeup, but it is always nice to apply before your foundation. The Rimmel Lasting Finish primer is really moisturising and keeps your makeup from sliding around your face, especially on hotter days. If you don't want to buy a primer then you can use a moisturiser. One of my favourite moisturisers to prime my face with is the Olay 2 in 1 Hydration & Flawless Blur Moisturiser.

Foundation: Barry M Flawless Matte Finish
I haven't really talked too much about this foundation on my blog but it is a really good drugstore foundation. This is an oil free foundation which is great for those with oily skin. I find that this applies best with a makeup brush, but some people do prefer to apply foundation with their hands. I really think that this foundation is perfect for those who are starting out in makeup as it offers a natural looking medium coverage. The formula is very lightweight and lasts well on the skin for around 5 hours, which is decent for a drugstore foundation.

Concealer: Rimmel Wake Me Up
This concealer has been one of my firm favourites for a long time now, about 2 or 3 years. I know that a lot of other people would recommend the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer but I honestly prefer this one. It is really creamy and has a great coverage, especially for covering up dark under eye circles. As you can see in the picture, I am in desperate need of a new one as I have almost used up the full tube.

Powder: NYX HD Finishing Powder
I have been loving this absolute gem from NYX recently! This finishing powder is very lightweight and gives a flawless finish to the skin. There was a time when I used to swear by and recommend the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, but this is even better!

Blush: Sleek Rose Gold Blush
I have had this blush from Sleek for a few years now and I still love and use it very regularly. It is a gorgeous rose gold shade (no surprise there!) and has a fair bit of gold glitter running through it. I really like how this blush shimmers when it catches the light. This is definitely not for everyone but I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good blush.

Contour/Highlight: Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Palette
I have talked about this little contour kit on my blog a few times and I do use it quite regularly. I really love that this palette has everything in it that you need; highlight shade, bronzer and contour shade. I don't necessarily use the highlight shade because I do prefer something with a little more shimmer to it, but you can't go wrong with this kit when you're first starting out in makeup. The bronzer warms up the skin really nicely without looking too orange and the darker cool toned shade can be used to create a really nice sharp and defined contour.

Eyeshadow: MUA Undressed & Spring Break Palettes
When you are starting out in makeup it is far easier to have a good eyeshadow palette with lots of different shades in it, rather then loads of different single shadows. Some of my favourite eyeshadow palettes are from the brand MUA which is sold in most Superdrug's and online too. These palettes are really affordable and they have great pigmentation and lasting power. If you are into neutral shades then the Undressed palette would be a great one to go for, the Spring Break palette is on the neutral side too but it has a few shades in that are a little more colourful.

Mascara: Rimmel Volume Colourist
Rimmel is a great drugstore brands which do some really good mascaras. I have tried quite a few of their mascaras but my favourite so far is the Volume Colourist. I wear this mascara almost every day, and it is fairly new to the UK. It gives lots of length to the lashes without looking clumpy. If you have lighter lashes then this will also tint them over time, which is an added bonus!

Brows: NYX Tinted Brow Mascara
I don't fill my eyebrows in using a powder or anything like that, I just prefer to brush them through with some tinted brow mascara. I love the NYX brow mascara as it doesn't make the eyebrows crispy, like some other eyebrow products tend to do, and leaves them looking very natural.

Lips: Various Brands
This is probably the hardest category to recommend as everybody is into different lip colours and shades. If you are looking for a good liquid lipstick then the NYX Lip Lingerie's and Revlon Ultra HD Matte Liquid Lipsticks are really good. MUA also have a wide range of lipstick shades, and they are a bargain at £1 each!

I hope that you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments if you try out any of the products I have recommended:)

Until next time,

The BEST Snacks EVER!*

Hello everyone!

A few weeks ago in my 'currently loving' post I talked about Urban Fruit and BEAR snacks that I have been obsessed with. This is sort of a dedication post to both brands as I love their snacks so much. In today's post I wanted to talk about both brands in a little more depth and share some of my favourite snacks from each. Despite being healthy, all of their snacks are very delicious!

Urban Fruit:
Urban Fruit products are all pure fruit that is baked with no added sugars, oils, sulphites, concentrates or anything else. You can purchase Urban Fruit products from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Waitrose, Morrison's, W H Smith, Wholefoods, Ocado and Amazon.

Products to consider: Perfect Pineapple // Smashing Strawberry // Cheeky Cherry // Awesome Apple & Pear

All BEAR snacks contribute to your 5 a day and are made from 100% pure fruit. You can buy BEAR products from pretty much any UK supermarket as well as Amazon and Ocado. These are technically made for younger children but I love their products anyway!

Products to consider: Blackcurrant & Beetroot Claws // Mango & Carrot Claws // Strawberry & Butternut Claws // Mango YoYo // Raspberry YoYo // Strawberry YoYo

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any products from BEAR or Urban Fruit, and what did you think??

Until next time,
Emily xo

*Some of the products featured in this post were sent to me for review, but all opinions are my own!

Summer Makeup Look | Bronze Eye With A Pop Of Colour

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to be sharing with you all of the products that I use to create the perfect Summer look. I have been loving a bronze eye look with a pop of colour and a peachy nude lip.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer
I always use a primer in the Summer time so that I can make sure that my makeup will stay in place all day. I love all of the Rimmel primers but I find that the Lasting Finish one works best on my skin and pairs well with the matching foundation. The consistency isn't too think and really hydrates the skin at the same time.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation
This foundation is my all time favourite and it's perfect for Summer too. It has SPF 20 so it offers protection from the sun, and it has a really good coverage. With this foundation one pump covers everything. I talk about this a lot on my blog but I really do love the foundation. The longevity is incredible; at the end of the day my makeup always looks just as good as when I first put it on.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
The Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer is really great for covering up under eye bags and brightening the under eye area at the same time. I am actually running really low on this so I need to repurchase. Definitely a staple in my makeup collection!

NYX HD Finishing Powder
I have been loving this setting powder recently. It is a loose powder so it is a little bit messy to apply, but it makes the skin look flawless. It is really lightweight and feels like velvet on the skin! Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a new loose powder which is under £10 but is REALLY good quality.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Duo
I usually like a very strong, dark contour but I have recently been loving a more subtle contour. The Maybelline Master Sculpt is amazing for creating a subtle defined contour. It does not apply patchy at all and is not orange either, which some contour shades tend to be. I don't, however, use the highlighter shade as I do prefer something with a little more sheen.

Makeup Revolution Highlighter Lights Palette
This is my all time favourite highlighter palette, all three shades are absolutely gorgeous! I get the most use from the centre shade which is a gorgeous rose gold shade. All three of the shades in this palette add a beautiful sheen to the cheeks but the centre shade is my favourite. The only thing I would say about these highlighters are that you need to apply them really sparingly as they are very pigmented and shimmery, but I am not complaining!

Sleek Rose Gold Blush
The Sleek Rose Gold blush is my favourite Summer cheek shade. I'm sure that you will all have seen this blush before. But if you haven't, it is a gorgeous rosey pink shade with lots of gold glitter in it. I love shimmery blushes for the Summer time as they look gorgeous when they catch the light, but shimmery blushes may not be for everyone.

MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
Now it's time for the eye makeup! I always prime my eyes using a cream shadow, usually the MAC Paint Pot. This creates the perfect base for my eye shadows and stops them from creasing and wearing off during the day.

MAC Warm Neutrals Palette
I wanted to create a classic bronze/gold eye look with a pop of colour, so the MAC Warm Neutrals Palette had the perfect shades in for the look I was going for. I took the shade Saddle and worked that into the crease. I then mixed the shades Amber Lights and Divine Decadence together to create a really pretty golden brown shade. Finally I applied the shade Hey on my inner corner to make my eyes look really awake and brightened.

Hard Candy Single Eye Shadow in Wild One
To finish off my eye shadow I decided to add a pop of colour to the lower lash line using the Hard Candy Wild One eye shadow. I had never used this eye shadow before creating the look but I will definitely be using it a lot more as it is a gorgeous teal blue shade which has great pigmentation. The texture of the shadow is very soft and blends out really well.

Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara
I used the Rimmel Volume Colourist mascara which is my favourite mascara at the moment. I have talked about this mascara in multiple posts before so I am not going to keep going on about it. If you are looking for an affordable mascara that adds a lot of length and volume to the lashes then this is definitely the one to go for.

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara
I already have quite thick eye brows so I don't really do too much to them, apart from brushing through them using a brow mascara. This is really great if you don't want to fill them in but you still want to do a little bit to them and set them into place.

NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim
I decided to go for a peachy nude lip, of course I chose the NYX Ruffle Trim liquid lipstick. I have talked about the NYX Lip Lingerie's on my blog a few times so you all know how much I love them! The formula is really creamy, they apply really smoothly and last really well on the lips.

NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
I finished off the look using a NYX setting spray. In the Summer time a setting spray is a MUST to keep my makeup looking flawless all day. I also really like that this NYX setting spray is mattifying so it helps combat shine.

The finished look... And, yes, I am aware that I look very serious haha :)

That is my Summer makeup routine, I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments what your staple Summer makeup products are.

Until next time,
Emily xo
