Books I've Recently Read | August

Hello everyone!

I have talked about my passion for reading many times on this blog, and I have recently read so many good books that I really want to share with you all. In today's post I am going to be sharing the books I have read over the past month.

Love Simon by Becky Albertalli:
I read this book in one day as I had previously watched the film and knew that I would really enjoy the book too. The storyline of this just hooked me in, even though I already knew how it was going to pan out, and I highly recommend it regardless of whether you've already seen the film or not. It's easy to follow and full of emotion- definitely one to add to your reading list!
Simon Spier is sixteen and trying to work out who he is- and what he's looking for. But when one of his emails to the very distracting Blue falls into the wrong hands, things get all kinds of complicated. Because, for Simon, falling for Blue is a big deal...

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon:
I had Everything, Everything on my book wish list prior to purchasing it last month. This is another book which has been adapted into a movie, however I am yet to see this one. Everything, Everything is a really easy read with a nice romance story line to it.
Maddy is allergic to the world. She hasn't left her house in seventeen years. Olly is the boy next door. He's determined to find a way to reach her. Everything, Everything is about the crazy risks we take for love.

See How They Lie by Sue Wallman:
This is the second book by Sue Wallman which I have read, and I also read another one of her books this month too which I will talk about later. All of her books lie under the same theme and I really enjoyed Lying About Last Summer, which was the first book of hers I read. See How They Lie is easy to follow and will leave you wanting more.
Mae's grown up at Hummingbird Creek, an elite wellness retreat where teens get the help they need from Mae's psychiatrist father. The Creek monitors every aspect of residents' daily life for optimal health and well-being, and everyone must follow strict rules. But after Mae is caught breaking the rules, she starts to question everything about how she lives. And at the Creek, asking questions can be dangerous.

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus:
I was immediately drawn to this book when it popped up in my recommended section on Amazon. I read the synopsis and knew that this was something I would enjoy. I took this book, along with another book, on holiday with me and could not put it down. From beginning to end it drew me in and had me guessing all the way through.
Five students walk into detention. Only four leave alive. Yale hopeful Bronwyn has never publicly broken a rule. Sports star Cooper only knows what he's doing in the baseball diamond. Bad boy Nate is one misstep away from a life of crime. Prom queen Addy is holding together the cracks in her perfect life. And outsider Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won't ever talk about any of them again. He dies 24 hours before he could post their deepest secrets online. Investigators conclude it's no accident. All of them are suspects.

13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough:
This was another book which appeared in my recommended section on Amazon based on adding One Of Us Is Lying to my basket. When I was reading the reviews on this book it was said to be a bit like Pretty Little Liars, and I absolutely loved that! I do really enjoy murder mysteries although it's not often I read them so it was nice to change it up a bit this month and read this. I am not going to give any spoilers away but this will have you questioning EVERYTHING!
I don't remember how I ended up in the icy water but I do know this: it wasn't an accident. They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but sometimes it's hard to tell them apart. My friends love me. I know they do. But that doesn't mean they didn't try to kill me.

Your Turn To Die by Sue Wallman:
Last but not least, the final book which I read during the month of August is Your Turn To Die; another book by Sue Wallman who I mentioned earlier on in this post. This was the other book I took on holiday with me and it was a good pick. I knew I could rely on this book for a good, gripping mystery. Just read that synopsis and tell me you don't want to read this!
Leah can't wait to spend the week at Roeshot House with her cousins Ivy and Poppy and family friend Jakob. Every year they slip away from the adults to the attic, where they catch up and make predictions for the future. But this year traditions are derailed by new girl Tatum, and some disturbing news; the body of a teenage girl was discovered in the garden- a secret kept for over 60 years. As Leah begins to unravel the mystery, unsettling events around the house start to mirror their predictions from last year. If she isn't careful, history could repeat itself...
I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you have been inspired to do some reading. This is going to be a monthly series on my blog, so expect to find out what I'm currently reading at the end of next month:)

Beauty Wish List #9

Hello everyone!

I was recently reading through my old blog posts and I realised that I hadn't done a beauty wish list since last September. Can you believe it? Almost one whole year without posting a wish list post! I knew that I quickly had to rectify that, and so today I am going to be sharing some of the bits currently on my beauty wish list.

Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette (£39.50):
I have seen so many pictures of this palette all over Instagram and it just looks absolutely stunning. The shades in this palette are very much what I go for on a daily basis, with some pops of colour in there too. Urban Decay always produce high quality, pigmented eyeshadows so no doubt this palette will be the same. I need this in my life immediately!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina & Soft Glam Palettes (£43.00 each):
I have never tried an Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadow palette before despite seeing so many great things about them. I currently have my eyes on two palettes; Norvina and Soft Glam, although Soft Glam contains more of the shades which I typically go for. I think if I was to buy either of these palettes it would be the Soft Glam just for the reason I would get use from the majority, if not all, of the shades however Norvina is equally pretty.

Wet N Wild Colour Icon 10 Pan Palette in Nude Awakening, Mega Glo Highlighters & Photo Focus Foundation (£3.75, £3.75 each & £6.00 each):
Wet N Wild has recently launched on Beauty Bay which I am very excited about because I have been wanting to try their products for a while now. Their products are so affordable- hence why I have so many on my wish list! One item which I particularly have my eyes on is the Colour Icon 10 Pan Palette in Nude Awakening. I could not believe that you get 10 shades for just £3.75; it's such a bargain! I am also interested to try their Mega Glo Higlighters as well as their Photo Focus Foundation. Definitely stay tuned for future posts as I will be dedicating a full post to reviewing some of their makeup:)

Smashbox + Vlada Petal Metal Highlighter in Gilded Rose (£30.00):
I spotted this on Instagram a few days ago and this is, hands down, the most gorgeous highligher I've seen in my life. The rose pattern is stunning and Gilded Rose is a lovely champagne toned highlighter, which is something I go for on an almost everyday basis. I really want to get my hands on this but everywhere I look it's sold out- hopefully I can get one soon!

I Heart Revolution Triple Baked Highlighter in Champagne & Diamonds (£6.00):
Staying along the same lines of highlighter, except this one is a lot cheaper than the Smashbox one. This is one of the most recent releases from I Heart Makeup and looks like something I would be interested in trying, especially the shade Champagne & Diamonds. The packaging reminds me a lot of Too Faced makeup and when it's a lot more cheaper you really cannot go wrong.

Revolution Pressed Glitter Palette in Midas Touch (£10.00):
I'm not usually one for glittery eye looks but I have just fell in love with this palette from Revolution. It's affordable and the colours look stunning. I have seen swatches of this palette online and they are absolutely blinding so I will definitely be trying this out for myself.

Those are all of the lovely items on my beauty wish list at the minute. I will definitely be buying some, if not all, of these so definitely stay tuned to see them in future posts:)

Until next time,

Morphe Haul

Hello everyone!

I was really sad to see that Morphe had stopped selling their products on Beauty Bay, however that did not stop me shopping their latest products on the Morphe UK website. I have tried some brushes and eye shadow palettes from Morphe but I really want to delve into the other products they have on offer too. I bought a few face products as well as a lip product and, of course, I couldn't resist their makeup brushes and eye shadow palettes:)

Matte Lipstick in Honey (£10.00):
I had no idea that Morphe even sold lip products until I was browsing their website and came across this gorgeous nude matte lipstick. I instantly knew that I had to have it as a love a good nude lip, especially when it's a matte formula! I like stick formula lipsticks for work as I like something that is quick and easy to apply, and something that I can really quickly top up if necessary during the day. This lipstick will no doubt live in my handbag!

M143 Deluxe Soft Fan Brush (£8.00):
I definitely don't need any more makeup brushes but you just can't go wrong with Morphe brushes as they are so affordable and they literally sell every type of brush you could ever need. I own many fan brushes to apply my highlighter with but this fan brush is a lot thicker than one you would apply your highlight with, and therefore I thought it would be good for contouring. I did buy another contour brush (you can never have too many, right?!) but I have seen people use this style of brush for applying their contour with as you just get the most perfect line ever. I will give it a go and report back soon.

M530 Contour Blender Brush (£12.00):
As I mentioned, I did get another contour brush and this time it is just a fluffy round brush for blending out my contour with. Nothing too fancy but I don't actually have a lot of contour brushes so I wanted to experiment with some new ones.

Set 702 12 Piece Eye-Credible Brush Set (£25.00):
Whilst browsing the makeup brushes I came across this really affordable eye brush set and I just couldn't resist is as I am so bad at cleaning my eye brushes and therefore I need as many as I can get! This set contains a range of brushes including blending brushes, detailing brushes and flat brushes for really packing your eye shadow on.

High Impact Highlighter in Lit (£14.00):
I saw that Morphe starting doing highlighters a little while ago and this is the first, but not the last, highlighter I have purchased from them. This is a yellow gold highlighter which I really don't have a lot of in my collection. On initial swatching this is really pigmented and also buttery so I am excited to try this out on my face and see how it performs.

Brontour in Celebutante (£12.00):
I had no idea that Morphe sold this duo until I came across it on the website. These Brontour sets looked really pretty so I wanted to try one out as they are great to have for travelling. I picked up the third shade as the other two looked too light for my skin tone, despite being quite fair myself, and I am glad I did as this is the perfect shade for me. The matte contour shade is perfect for sculpting out the cheekbones however the bronzer shade is more of a subtle bronzey gold highlighter to me, even so I still this it's a pretty duo which I will get a lot of use from.

15D Day Slayer Eye Shadow Palette (£15.00):
I purchased the 15N palette a little while ago and I was really impressed by it  so I decided to pick up the 'daytime' version of the palette also. The shade range is quite similar to the 15N palette however this palette contains more subtle neutrals whereas the 15N contains a few more smouldery shades.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Ring The Alarm Eye Shadow Palette (£15.00):
Finally, the main reason I was on the Morphe website in the first place was to pick up one of Jaclyn Hill's new gorgeous eye shadow palettes. I was debating whether to buy the vault of 4 palettes but the other 3 palettes weren't really up my street and therefore I wouldn't have used them a great deal and it would have just been a waste of money. I decided on the Ring The Alarm palette as it contains warm toned shades which I wear all of the time, and since it's coming up to Autumn the burgundies are very in season. Stay tuned for a separate post on this, including swatches!

Those were the lovely goodies I bought from Morphe recently. Expect to see most of these in my next 'Currently Loving' post too- especially that gorgeous Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette!

Until next time,

Currently Loving #15

Hello everyone!

I know that it wasn't too long ago that I last posted a 'Currently Loving' post, however I have recently been using lots of new products and I didn't want to leave it too long or this post would be even longer than what it is now! If you want to see all of the products I've been using and loving lately then keep on reading:)

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick in Cinnamon Beige (£9.00):
The first product I have been loving recently is a Soap & Glory lipstick in the shade Cinnamon Beige. I do have a few of these lipsticks now, because I love them so much, but this shade is the one which really stood out to me. Cinnamon Beige is a matte formula (you all know I love my matte lipsticks!) however it glides on the lips really easily and isn't drying whatsoever. I must admit it doesn't last as long as some of my matte liquid lipsticks, but for a stick lipstick it lasts pretty well. Cinnamon Beige is such a lovely everyday nude shade and I just can't get enough of it.

Zoella Drench Me Bubble Bath (£6.95):
A couple of months ago Zoella released her Summer 2018 beauty range, and I was immediately hooked into purchasing the bubble bath especially. I love the packaging of this bubble bath as it looks like a milk carton and is very Instagrammable. This is definitely something that should take pride of place on the side of your bath tub.

Smashbox Spotlight Highlighter Palette in Pearl (£26.00):
I wasn't planning on picking up this highlighter palette but on a trip to Boots I saw it glistening on the shelf and knew that it was something I just had to try. On swatching this palette the shades were really buttery and pigmented, so I was definitely looking forward to putting this to use. I have used all three of the shades on my face and I am obsessed with the first shade, a gorgeous shimmering champagne. This was a good purchase and I definitely need to start using more Smashbox makeup as they really do have some hidden gems.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Wet (£16.00):
This year has definitely been the year for building up my Jeffree Star liquid lipstick collection. I have another liquid lipstick to talk about in this post but first of all I'm going to be talking about the limited edition Summer 2018 liquid lipstick in the shade Cherry Wet. First of all, I am loving the bright orange packaging; it really does scream Summer to me. The shade is something that I wouldn't usually wear but I have been really stepping out of my comfort zone with makeup lately, and lip products are the perfect way to do that. Cherry Wet is such a vibrant cherry red shade, as the name suggests. The formula is great just as the other JSC liquid lipsticks I've tried, and it's also completely opaque which means you don't need to layer the lipstick up to achieve an even finish.

Lunar Beauty Life's A Drag Eye Shadow Palette (£37.00):
I was very excited to get my hands on this palette as it has been very popular in the beauty community, however I was lucky enough to get one pretty much as soon as it was released. When I first saw pictures of this palette I was completely blown away by the amazing shade variety in the palette, and it definitely did not disappoint either.  I'm not usually one for bright eye shadows but the colours in this palette are so pretty and it's definitely encouraging me to experiment more with my eye shadow. As you can imagine, I have been getting so much use out of the more 'everyday' shades and they create lovely eye looks in themselves.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Siberian Gold (£25.50):
I finally purchased my first Jeffree Star highlighter a few months ago too; which was very exciting! You all know how long I have been wanting to try one of his highlighters, and to be honest I'm not really sure why I had never tried one until now. I decided on the shade Siberian Gold which is a gorgeous champagne shade and is something I wear on pretty much a daily basis. It's so pigmented, just as I expected it to be, and looks stunning when it catches the light.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Calabasas (£16.00):
Staying on the theme of Jeffree Star Cosmetics, I recently added a new liquid lipstick to my collection in the shade Calabasas. I chose Calabasas because a lot of the shades I own are very similar and I wanted to try something different. Calabasas is described as a 'matte rosy red' shade and I think it looks lovely with my lighter complexion. I have definitely been experimenting with my lip shades recently and I am really happy with the new ones I've discovered so far.

Zoeva Matte Voyager Palette (£12.00):
I spotted this cute mini Zoeva palette on the Beauty Bay website a while ago and I knew that I would be picking one up soon as I love the Zoeva Caramel Melange palette. This truly is the perfect little palette for travelling as it's really compact and slim so you're bound to fit it in your suitcase, even if it's packed to the brim. I like that this contains only matte shadows as that is often something eye shadow palettes lack, and there is a good enough range of shades to get a few pretty looks.

Boux Avenue Vintage Floral Printed Camisole (£22.00) & Boux Avenue Vintage Floral Satin Shorts (£20.00):
Earlier on last month I decided to treat myself to some nice pyjamas from Boux Avenue. I spent ages browsing their website and settled on this lovely cami and shorts set. These are so comfortable and I definitely have my eyes on the matching robe! Boux Avenue is somewhere I had previously never shopped at for pyjamas but I will be treating myself to some more as they are high quality and feel really luxurious- and just look at that packaging!

Pandora Classic Elegance Ring (£70.00):
Around the same time as I bought my Boux Avenue pyjamas, I also treat myself to this beautiful Pandora ring which matches the earrings I was gifted for my Birthday. I had been obsessed with the earrings and knew that I wanted the matching ring and also necklace. I finally caved and bought the ring, and I will no doubt be treating myself to the necklace soon:)

RayBan Classic Erika Sunglasses in Black (£118.00):
I went on holiday at the beginning of August and I obviously had to take advantage of the Duty Free (see what I bought here). One of the items I knew that I wanted to get was a pair of high quality sunglasses. I chose the Erika sunglasses from RayBan in black as I don't actually own a pair of black sunglasses despite the fact they go with everything! These suit my face shape really well and they look great on. I will definitely be shopping at RayBan for my sunglasses in future- you just can't beat them!

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (£24.00):
A highly raved about product in the beauty community this year has been the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Of course, I like to try out products which are recommended by other bloggers and I really trust their opinions too. I didn't think that this would make a difference to the longevity of my makeup but I was definitely wrong! A few quick spritzes of this setting spray and your makeup is locked in place ALL day. I 100% will be testing out the rest of the All Nighter range if this is anything to go by.

Glamglow Supermud Face Mask (£42.00):
Another product highly recommended by other bloggers and also something I have had on my wish list for a while is this Glamglow face mask. I am impressed with this mask as I have been using it twice a week and it really has made a difference to the appearance of my skin. My skin feels great after I've used this and I know this has now become a product which I will be using religiously for years to come:)

Narciso Rodriguez Rouge Eau De Parfum (£62.00):
I have worn the same 2 or 3 perfumes for a while now and have been looking for a new fragrance to switch it up a little. I received a sample of this perfume in a magazine a while back and I knew that I would be picking up a bottle of this. Admittedly, I had never heard of Narciso Rodriguez before trying this perfume but I am so glad I discovered this.

That was everything I have been loving over the past month or so. I know there was quite a lot of products to go through- so thank you if you made it to the end of this post!
