Handbag Beauty Essentials

Hello everyone!

I don't know about you, but I always carry some beauty essentials with me wherever I go. I keep all of my essentials in a Jack Wills small makeup bag, and today I am going to be sharing with you everything that is in the bag.

Powder:
I always keep some sort of pressed powder in my handbag so that I can dust some on my face as and when I need it. I tend to get oily on my nose and forehead towards the end of the day so if I am going to be out for the whole day then this is a MUST! At the minute I have the LA Girl Pro Face Matte Pressed Powder. This is really handy because the compact also includes a mirror and sponge, so it's a 3 in 1 product.

Powder Brush:
Of course, to go along with my powder I like to keep my powder brush in my bag too. I have the Real Techniques Powder Brush because it's really soft and applies powder well. I know that the LA Girl powder comes with a sponge to apply it with, but it's not really something I would use to apply powder. If I was in a pinch and forgot my powder brush then I definitely would use the sponge though!

Lipstick:
I like to carry with me whatever lipstick I am wearing on a particular day. I never know when I'm going to need to reapply my lipstick, but most of the time I never actually end up re applying. I like to wear matte liquid lipsticks which last incredibly well on the lips so they do stay in place all day. Some of my favourites are the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks as they're really long lasting and feel really comfortable on the lips. If you would like to see a post on my other favourite liquid lipsticks, then do let me know in the comments and I will do that soon.

Lip Balm:
Some days if my lips are feeling particularly dehydrated then I like to carry a lip balm around with me and then constantly apply that throughout the day. I have tons of lip balms but I love the Albus & Flora lip balms as they contain SPF 30 (not that I need it in England!) and are really moisturising too. Obviously I don't apply lip balm when I have on a lipstick, but some days I do like to give my lips a breather from all of the matte lipsticks I wear.

Mini Perfume:
Before leaving the house I always spritz myself with perfume, but I do like to keep a miniature bottle in my bag for using when I'm out and about. At the moment I have a mini YSL Black Opium perfume in my bag because it is my all time favourite perfume. If you have not smelt this perfume before then you definitely need it, it smells incredible!

What beauty essentials do you keep in your handbag?

Currently Loving #9

Hello everyone!

I am really impressed that this is actually my 9th 'currently loving' blog post! I honestly thought after the first one or two I would forget to ever do another one. I have had so much time to spare recently so I have just been trying my best to find new amazing products to share on here, and that is why I have done three 'currently loving' posts in the past three months or so.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration SPF 15 Sun Lotion:
I came back from a week in Fuerteventura a few weeks ago, and I shared in this post that I was going to be taking a Hawaiian Tropic sun cream along with me. I had never tried the sun cream before then but I am pleased to report that I absolutely loved using it. I used up the full tube when I was away but I will definitely be repurchasing it for when I next go on holiday. My skin is so tanned and glowy at the moment, and I can guarantee that it wouldn't be like this if it wasn't for the sun cream.

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo & Conditioner:
Another favourite from my holiday is the Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner. I took a few miniature bottles of these away with me and my hair has never felt softer. I am definitely going to consider purchasing the full sized versions of these because not only do they leave my hair feeling super soft, they also make my hair feel clean but not to the point where it feels really stripped and undernourished.

Sleek Face Form Trio in Light:
This product is by no means a new product, in fact I have had it in my collection for a good few years now, but I recently rediscovered it when I went on holiday. I took this with me on holiday as it is very compact and includes a blush, highlight and contour/bronzer shade. I hadn't used this trio for a long time but I thought that my holiday would be the perfect chance to get some more use out of it, and I have definitely fallen back in love with it! The highlighter is very pigmented and blinding on the cheek bones, and that is definitely the number one reason why I love this so much:)

LA Girl HD Concealer in Porcelain:
After being so pleasantly surprised by the LA Girl HD Pro Coverage Foundation (despite the horrible shade range!) I wanted to try some more of their products. The concealers are probably one of the most raved about products from LA Girl, and I couldn't carry on any longer without trying them! The shade I bought is Porcelain, and is the perfect shade for under the eyes and anywhere on the face that I want to highlight. As for the formula, it is really blendable and works great under the eyes as it isn't thick or heavy looking.

Makeup Geek Highlighter in Midnight Sun:
I have had this Makeup Geek highlighter on my wish list for a long time now, so I was undoubtedly excited to try it out. Obviously I am very impressed with this highlighter as I am featuring it in this post! Midnight Sun is a gorgeous pigmented light gold shade. This highlight is the type of shade that I would normally go for, as I like to play it safe when it comes to highlight, and it has quickly landed a place in my top 3 highlighters. This shade can be built up to look very intense or it can also be lightly dusted on the cheekbones for a nice glow, but either way the pigmentation and formula is amazing. I couldn't believe just how buttery the formula is, and this allows for a very easy application. I already have my eyes on a few more shades!

P.S. If you are wondering why the highlighter pan looks weird; the highlighter arrived broken so I had to repress it back into the pan!!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin:
Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks are definitely my favourite lipsticks of all time. Celebrity Skin is the most recent addition to my makeup collection and again, it is a basic nude shade that I pretty much wear everyday. I seem to stick to one liquid lipstick at a time until it runs out and I was using Daddy, which was a collaboration with Manny MUA, but my tube is very nearly empty. This is definitely a liquid lipstick that I will be continually repurchasing because it is my ideal shade and ticks all of the boxes for me personally.

RCMA No Colour Loose Powder:
I have heard the RCMA No Colour loose powder being raved about for such a long time now, and I just couldn't resist purchasing a bottle to see what it was all about. I couldn't believe that the powder was only £13 for the amount of product you get! The powder is very finely milled and lightweight, and it makes my skin look so smooth. I like to use it with a damp beauty blender so that it doesn't just fall of my makeup sponge before it actually gets applied to my face. I think that this is very comparable to the Kat Von D Lock It Loose Setting Powder but the RCMA powder is definitely a lot more affordable. I can definitely see myself re purchasing this in the future.

History Is All You Left Me:
In my 'Holiday Reading Picks' blog post I mentioned that I would be reading History Is All You Left Me when I went on holiday. I am pleased to report that I loved this book and I actually finished it in one day! I loved how the whole story was put together and alternated between history and present time. I am not going to be giving away any spoilers but if you want a good read then definitely keep this book in mind.

That is everything I have been loving recently! What are your favourite products at the moment?

Brand Focus: MAC Cosmetics | My Favourite Products From MAC Cosmetics

Hello everyone!

This is my first high end 'brand focus' post. Up to now, the only brands I have talked about have been drugstore. For my first high end 'brand focus' I thought that I would discuss MAC, as I have been using their products for a long time and have built up a considerably sized collection.

MAC Blushers:
I don't use blushers as often as what I used to, but when I do it's either a Benefit blush or MAC blush. MAC blushers are some of my favourites as they have a huge selection of shades so you will definitely find something for your skin tone. The Pro Longwear blushers also last all day and the colour doesn't fade, which is a problem I can sometimes have with cheaper blushers. Well Dressed is a satin finish pale rose shade, and it was the first MAC blusher I ever purchased. The other Pro Longwear blusher I own is in the shade Stay Pretty. I actually cannot even remember purchasing this shade, but it is a very lovely shade nonetheless. Again, this adds a lovely pop of colour to the cheeks without looking too vibrant. Stay Pretty is like a darker matte version of Well Dressed. The final MAC blusher I own is Peachykeen which is a bit different to the other two blushers I have talked about. Peachykeen is a Sheertone blush which means that it isn't intensely pigmented, but I love layering it on top of other blushers. I love a good shimmery blush and this one has gorgeous gold specks of glitter running through it.

MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study:
This is such a classic MAC product which I used to prime my eyes with everyday before applying eye shadow. I have been neglecting this product quite a lot and every time I use it it just reminds me how much I used to love this. The MAC Paint Pots are really creamy and are great for use as an eye primer and as a highlighter on the eyes. I think that you can even use this on the cheekbones, although I haven't tried that out yet. Bare Study is just a nice shimmery champagne shade which would work well on every skin tone. I have made a very big dent in this jar so I will definitely need to repurchase soon!

MAC Eye Shadows:
One of my favourite eye shadow palettes of all time is the MAC Warm Neutrals palette. I am very close to hitting pan on a lot of the shadows and I have absolutely used the palette to death! I have so many eye shadow palettes but there is something about this one that makes me go back to it time and time again. I will include swatches of my favourite shades in this palette so that you can all see exactly how wearable and pigmented the shades in this palette really are. I also have a custom MAC quad which I created a long time ago, and that contains two nude shades (Malt and Naked Lunch), a cranberry shade (Star Violet) and a black shade with silver glitter (Black Tied). Finally, I own two single shadows in the shades All That Glitters and Satin Taupe. All That Glitters is a gorgeous very shimmery peachy beige shade which can be applied with a damp brush for an intense look, and Satin Taupe is the perfect smokey eye lid shade.

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Etcetera:
I went through a phase last year where I would just wear this lip liner all over my lips, with no other lipstick on top of it. I love this nude beige shade as it's very much the shade I go for everyday, and it has a matte finish too. This doesn't have an extremely creamy formula like the Kylie Cosmetics lip liners do, but it lasts amazingly well throughout the day!

MAC Lipsticks:
I have a few MAC lipsticks so I am not going to be listing every single one as that would take a whole blog post in itself, but I am going to be sharing my three favourite shades. My first favourite shade is Creme Cup. I feel like everyone owns this lipstick as it's a classic MAC lipstick shade. Creme Cup is a lovely pink shade and it is a Cremesheen formula which means it applies really smoothly. My second favourite MAC lipstick is Brave, which is more of a darker shade that I have recently been wearing everyday. My final favourite shade is Angel which is a very similar shade to Creme Cup, but it ever so slightly cooler.

Those are all of my favourite MAC products! What are your favourite MAC products?

Brand Focus: LA Girl | My Favourite Products From LA Girl

Hello everyone!

LA Girl has been a brand which I have discovered this year. They launched their products on Beauty Bay which has made them very regularly available for beauty lovers just like me. I have mentioned their products in a number of my blog posts as I have really enjoyed using them over the past couple of months, and today I am going to be rounding up all of my faves:)

LA Girl Pro Prep HD Smoothing Face Primer:
When it comes to primer I have used the Benefit Porefessional for the LONGEST time ever. It's not that often that I change my primer because I know that the Benefit one works well for me, but I started using the LA Girl Pro Prep HD Smoothing Face Primer a few weeks ago and I have been really pleasantly surprised by it. The texture is very similar to the Porefessional, except this one is not tinted, and smooths out the face just as the Benefit primer does. The only downside to this product is that the tube is very small compared to other primers, but you don't need to use that much of it to get a smooth base for your makeup. I will definitely repurchase this as it's a great drugstore version of the Porefessional.

LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Foundation:
I have mentioned this foundation quite a lot since purchasing it, and I even did a full blog post on it which you can read here. I was impressed with this foundation as it has a really dewy glowy finish, and it also offers a lovely coverage, but the one thing I didn't like was the shades. I purchased Fair and this was very dark and orange on my skin. It's not a huge problem as I do just mix this with a white foundation and it thickens up the formula at the same time, but it is a shame that the shade didn't match me in the first place.

LA Girl HD Pro Concealer:
I have heard amazing things about this concealer for such a long time and I recently purchased the shade Porcelain on Beauty Bay. For £5 you definitely can't go wrong with this concealer as it offers a great coverage. I love using Porcelain under the eyes and anywhere on my face where I want to brighten. The concealer is really thin in texture which makes it super easy to blend out. I will definitely purchase more shades of this concealer as I love it a lot!

LA Girl Pro Face HD Matte Pressed Powder:
The final product from the LA Girl Pro range that I am going to be talking about today is the Pro Face powder. This powder is definitely going to live in my handbag as it is perfect for touching up makeup on the go. The powder is really lightweight and it does a great job mattifying my skin, especially the forehead and nose areas which I tend to get most oily. The powder also comes with a sponge and mirror underneath the actual product, and that is why I think it's great for on the go use.

LA Girl Super Mega Mascara:
I mentioned this mascara in one of my Currently Loving blog posts as I was, and still am, really impressed with it. Like I said in that post, the mascara is advertised to give really dramatic lashes. I definitely don't think it adds tons and tons of volume and length to my lashes, but I like it because it is one of my more 'natural' volumising and lengthening mascaras.

Those are all of my favourite products from LA Girl! Have you tried any LA Girl products before?

Products That Will Make Your Teeth Sparkle!*

Hello everyone!

I have never tried teeth whitening products before so when I was contacted by Janina Ultra White I must admit that I was a little apprehensive. I have heard reviews about a lot of different teeth whitening products but I have always questioned whether they're truly worth the money or not.

I have been using these products for over 3 weeks now so I am pretty well informed on how they perform.

The Activated Charcoal Toothpaste retails for £10.95 and the Whitening Charcoal Powder retails for £13.00. Compared to some other teeth whitening products, I think that these are quite affordable for the average person. And you really don't need to use a lot of product so both products are going to last you a little while.

The toothpaste is great for everyday use as it's very refreshing and leaves both my teeth and mouth feeling really clean. I have definitely noticed that my teeth are a lot whiter since starting to use this toothpaste twice daily.

I think it is definitely acceptable if you want to stop there and just use the toothpaste. But, Janina also offer a powder which is also for stain removal. I like to use this powder every other day. It can be quite messy so I definitely recommend using this over a sink, but it does make all of the difference in terms of teeth whitening.

Overall, both products work hand in hand to make your teeth look really sparkly clean. I have definitely noticed my teeth are a lot whiter since I started using these products, and I will definitely continue using these on a daily basis!

Janina Ultra White products have recently launched in Boots and you can also purchase them from Superdrug.

Have you ever tried any teeth whitening products before? What did you think of them?

Brand Focus: MUA | My Favourite Products From MUA

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to be continuing a new series which I started on my blog. This is the third post in my 'brand focus' blog post series, and it is dedicated to MUA.

MUA is a brilliant drugstore brand that is sold in Superdrug. I have been a fan of this brand for a long time, I can remember purchasing their products 3 or 4 years ago, and the quality of their products are excellent.

MUA Blushers:
For a long time I haven't really worn blusher, but I used to be a huge fan of the MUA single blushers. These are £1 each and they have lots of different shades. The packaging of these blushers, as with most MUA products, is very simple. The packaging doesn't seem to be greatly sturdy, but it's what's on the inside that counts! The two shades that I want to talk about today are Lolly and Cupcake. Lolly is a really nice peach shade and Cupcake, which is personally my favourite, is a lot more muted and natural when applied onto the cheeks.

Top to bottom: MUA Blush in Lolly & MUA Blush in Cupcake

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Peach Diamond:
I am a huge fan of highlight so I love trying out new ones. I bought this MUA highlighter a few weeks ago and it is stunning. You can see from the swatch below that the highlight is very pigmented and reflective. The texture of this highlighter is a little powdery but it looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin.

MUA Eye Shadow Palettes:
I own three of the MUA eye shadow palettes. I have had the Undressed palette for the longest time, ever since I started wearing makeup, and I'm sure you can see from the image just how much I have used the palette. I don't use that particular palette anymore, as that is probably VERY unhygienic, but I have kept it because I just can't part with it just yet. The other two palettes which I do use are the Spring Break and 5th Birthday palettes. These both cost me £4.00 each, and that is an absolute steal in my eyes! I have never used eye shadows which are as smooth as these ones, and that means they are so easy to blend out.

MUA Matte Lipsticks:
I am sure you all know by now that I only wear matte lip products. I don't know why, but I always seem to reach for them on a day to day basis. MUA do tons of lipsticks, all for £1.00 each, and that includes matte lipsticks. It's not often that a drugstore brand can perfect a matte lip, but MUA just tick all of the boxes! The shades Totally Nude and Fawn Fancy are my favourites. You guessed it, they're both nudes too! The lipsticks don't apply as smoothly as other matte lipsticks, but what can you expect for £1? I definitely want to get a few more shades in the range as they are great lipsticks:)

MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer in Harmony:
Finally, we have the Velvet Lip Lacquer in the shade Harmony. This is very comparable to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, both in formula and finish. This has a very creamy texture which seems almost whipped. When I first tried this product I wasn't really expecting brilliant things, but it applies beautifully onto the lips and doesn't look streaky or patchy. As for the shade I chose; Harmony is a pretty everyday peachy nude shade.

Those are my favourite products from MUA! Have you tried any MUA products before?
